Extension of “Cable on Pulleys” Member Types to Include Pulley Definitions at Intermediate Nodes

The existing “Cable on Pulleys” member types have been enhanced with a new control option that allows pulleys with a defined wheel diameter (D) to be assigned to discrete intermediate nodes. The new “New Pulley” dialog box allows you to configure pulleys with the following parameters: Pulley parameters: The pulleys are assigned a wheel diameter D in meters. Optionally, the pulley can be configured as an “inverted pulley,” in which the cable is routed across the pulley in a crisscross pattern. Loss Modeling: For each pulley, there are three modeling options for pulley losses to select from: None – Friction losses are neglected Friction – Axial friction is accounted for based on the shaft diameter d Efficiency – Specification of a dimensionless efficiency value ε Automatic Model Adjustment: The program automatically and generically adapts the structural analysis model in the background to the specified pulley diameters. The geometric ratios derived from the pulley diameter and the selected loss assumptions are transparently incorporated into the analysis model without it being necessary for the user to make manual model adjustments.
