I'm trying to use the steel cross-section reduction feature. I've applied it to the members, but I haven't noticed any changes in the bending design ratio. What am I doing wrong?
Local cross-section reduction only affects the tensile design (see the article in the manual), where the net area size "A_net" is used.
Unfortunately, it has no effect on the bending or shear design checks. In those cases, it would be necessary to specify which part of the cross-section is missing so that this is reflected in the cross-section properties. This can be addressed by modifying the cross-section using the RSECTION program.
