The author of the “Stair Tower” model is Patrik Andel from the Department of Steel and Timber Structures at the Czech Technical University in Prague. The project is part of the Dlubal Talent CTU competition. The structure consists of steel stair stringers and an upper landing, which are modeled as separate welded components. The railing is included to account for load transfer and stiffness effects, which were designed manually. The joints of the railing posts are free only about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the railing. Nonlinear supports were defined for the selected limit state.
