The Torsional Warping add-on (7 DOF) allows you to account for cross-section warping as the seventh degree of freedom in the global calculation performed by RFEM and RSTAB. Warping is treated as local member deformation, which is taken into account accordingly when calculating the global model. The stiffnesses of adjacent structural components are also determined automatically.
For models with members, the calculation is affected by the settings for member divisions. The settings are managed in program-specific dialog boxes for RFEM and RSTAB.
Mesh Settings (for RFEM)
The FE mesh affects how cross-section warping is taken into account. You can adjust the general settings for generating the FE mesh in the RFEM dialog box Mesh Settings.
The subdivisions for members are managed in the Members tab. Make sure that a sufficient value is specified for the “Number of divisions for spacial types of members” entry. Minimum values of 8 to 10 are recommended.
Member Divisions (for RSTAB)
Member divisions affect how cross-section warping is taken into account. You can adjust the settings for member divisions in the Member Divisions for Calculation dialog box in RSTAB.
Make sure that a sufficient value is specified for the “Number of divisions for spacial types of members” entry. Minimum values of 8 to 10 are recommended.
