Material Models for Fabric
Material models for fabric
The image shows a dialog box for defining the “Fabric” material type for surface elements. Below it, the material model drop-down list is open, containing two options: “Orthotropic | Linear Elastic (Surfaces)” and “Orthotropic | Fabric | Nonlinear Elastic (Surfaces).” These material models allow for a realistic modeling of the orthotropic behavior of fabric membranes, in which the stiffnesses in the warp and weft directions differ. Nonlinear elastic models also account for the load-dependent stiffness behavior of the fabric, which is essential for the accurate analysis of membrane structures.
